Wszystkiego Najlepszego EKSTRAKLASAreview

One year ago today, the first ever post found it’s way onto EKSTRAKLASAreview.co.uk. In that post, we discussed that 2012 was to be the year that pushed Polish football into the heads of the casual football fan – and we weren’t far off. 12 months on, the website is about to go through some big changes to help bring the Ekstraklasa – and Polish football in general – to a wider audience.

Never would we have predicted that by the end of the year the surge of non-Polish people becoming interested in Polish football, let alone that a British Sports station would begin to carry live games from the Ekstraklasa! The large amount of Polish ex-pats based in Britain, combined with an increasing amount of Brits looking for new leagues to learn about, has led to Sports Tonight Live’s coverage to be a relative success.

Whilst Euro 2012 may not have been a success on-the-pitch for Poland, off of it, the co-hosts achieved a massive success – many believing it was one of the best-hosted tournaments in history.

With players such as Lewandowski, Błaszczykowski and Piszczek leading the way for Polish football, a number of big clubs are now looking towards the country for the next big talent. And with youngsters including Arek Milik, Paweł Wszołek and Łukasz Teodorczyk attracting the attention of big European clubs, 2013 looks even more promising.

Changes to EKSTRAKLASAreview

In August, the first issue of “#Ekstraklasa Magazine – The Only English Guide to Polish Football” was released as a Quarterly (roughly) free, downloadable guide. With “EKSTRAKLASAreview” editor Ryan Hubbard teaming up with “Polish Football Scout” editor Michał Zachodny, and a number of other fantastic writers, the magazine aimed to include something for people with all levels of knowledge of the game. Articles, statistics, interviews – all can be found in the first two issues.

Some time before the release of Issue Two, both Ryan and Michał decided that the time had come to merge together “EKSTRAKLASAreview” and “Polish Football Scout”, creating a bigger site with better links to the Magazine. On the new site, which will be found here, we hope to contain more articles, interviews, news, opinions – all helping to promote the Polish League.

Michał will be joining the EKSTRAKLASAreview team immediately, and you’ll probably see his first post very soon. You can also expect to see minor changes across the site over the coming weeks.

In the meantime, go and follow both Ryan and Michał on Twitter, and “Like” the site on Facebook. We hope that 2013 will be even better than 2012!

Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku!
